Dell laptop battery question

I have just been given a dell laptop Latitude
CPx J650CT that seems to have a dead battery. When the power adapter is connected and the pc is turned on, the battery light first turns green for about 10 seconds and then goes to flashing amber. I thought at that point the battery was being changed. After a long period of time in this condition I went into the setup to check on the battery condition. It says the battery is installed and is charging. However, no matter how long I leave it on it says 0% charged and the graph shows the same. Any Ideas?

How old is the battery? It could be that like any rechargeable battery, it has reached the limit of its life and just won't hold a charge. I have a drill battery that no matter how long I let it sit on the charger for, it will say it is charged, and it won't have any power once on the drill.

If you want to keep the laptop and not have to be plugged in, look into replacing the battery.

Buen suerte,
