I am trying to use a different site as Home page on Internet Explorer. So I went to Internet Options on IE – General – Home page – Use current – Apply. However, Dell home page is overriding the other site. How can I change the configuration properly?

Which version of IE are you using?

Youv'e clicked 'Use Current'
Then cliked Apply or Ok.

There may be a cookie on your system from dell that keeps overriding the Internet Options (presumabley, it is the Dell Site it would take you to). Try delete files and delete cookies from internet options, then reset the home page (if you have any logon's (usernames and passwords)stored in cookies, make a note of them.

If that fails, there may be a registry entry somewhere.

Dell is notorious for regisrty enteries........I'll be there...

These are the typical locations for Home and Start pages in the Registry:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main ("Start Page" and "Home Page")

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main ("Start Page" and "Search Page")

Start > Run > Regedit > Ok

Navigate to above referenced keys and delete Dell entries. Restart IE and set your own.

Many anti-spyware tools prevent changing the default home page. Could that be the case here?

This is also a function of Norton and quite possibly other anti-virus programs to lock the home page.

Last time I dealt with a computer with Zone Alarm on it, it was a feature of it too.

Cheers.
