I have a dell 1100 that I wanted to move into a home theater case since I have it setup with my tv. Does anyone know if dell motherboards would transfer into a standard atx case?

djmwjk,

It really depends on the motherboard. If this is a motherboard where there is a riser that provides PCI slots that sit parallel to the motherboard, the riser may have too much height to fit into your home theater case.

Otherwise, try measuring the board with a tape measure. Most mATX cases will take boards up to 9.6"x9.6". Check the specs for yours.

it isn't one of the dell cases with the riser, the PCI slots are right on the motherboard. So I'm thinking it will work. I took a older atx case I had and put it next to my dell one and compared the motherboard positions and it looked like they would fit, I just wanted to check here before I rip my computer apart. Thanks for your help! John

djmwjk,

I must have missed the part about the standard ATX case the first time, since I've seen some home theater cases that have different proportions.

If your mobo isn't too physically large, it should fit just fine.
