We have a client who does not want their server to send delivery or read receipts to (external) senders who have requested them. They simply do not want people to know if a mail has been delivered or read (secrecy gone mad)! Is there any way to turn off delivery receipts (and read receipts - I know that you get an option to not send these in Outlook but this seems too complicated for our client) globally for an Exchange 2000 Server or indeed on a per-user basis?

Hope you can help

Ian W

System Manager - Global Settings - Internet Message Format - Default - Properties (right click) - Advanced. Uncheck the Allow delivery reports and Allow non-delivery reports. Might want to ask your client about the Out of Office replies and auto-replies as well, in case they're completely anal-retentive.

This will affect all users, not individual ones.

Thanx for the tip. About the anal-retentive, they're lawyers! 'nuff said?!

We want to setup an auto reply with template rule for a public folder running on Exchange 2000. Everytime we create the rule with Outlook XP Folder Assistant, we recieve the "must have send as permissions to create a reply with template rule for this folder" error. I am the owner of the folder as well as the admin. Thanks for any assistance!! Rlee@ncdoi.net

Pleas make a new post for that question, it is confusing for others as the topic does not reflect your question. If the answer is here, mark it, others can benefit from it too.

Did that actually work? Because I was told and also read that in Exchange 2000 there was no options to stop read receipts. In order to do it, an Event Sink has to be implemented. We just had one implented Monday night. If you do as above then you will not get your NDR's, something you might not want to do.

As above the NDR's are not sent to the internet, and that is exacltly what should be stopped. The admin still gets undeliverables. [sub]If the answer is here, mark it, others can benefit from it too. If 'something' 'somewhere' gives 'some' error, excpect random guesses or no replies at all. Please specify details.
