Our internal mail server named mailx runs ubuntu, postfix and spamassassin to process incoming emails then delivers them to another system called monarch which is our internal pop3 server.

For 12 years we had our incoming emails going to monarch so for a long time people were sending emails to usernameremoved@monarch.gomonarch.com. This worked until we starting using the ubuntu box as incoming email processor.

How can I configure postfix to accept not only emails to usernameremoved@gomonarch.com but also usernameremoved@monarch.gomonarch.com? making a change to mydestination = in postfix/main.cf doesn't work as now the emails do not get forwarded from incoming email server mailx to out pop3 server monarch.

FYI, we will not use server mailx for pop3 so please don't suggest it.

You should be able to do this with virtual aliasing. See the following link:

Look under TABLE SEARCH ORDER, at the @domain address, address, ... section. It says that if you use the @domain wildcard, it will map user@domain to user@otherdomain.

I was able to get it fixed with that. Thanks!
