Deleting recipients

Is there more than one server in the site/Org?
It may be a replication problem. You could try doing a directory update if multi-server, but this should normally occur every 15mins anyway. It sounds like a directory problem, but be sure to view hidden recipients also. Have you tried logging on to the mailbox? Read a little about the 'DS/IS Consistency Adjuster' it may be able to help also.
