i think i have everything setup correctly so that when i delete messages from my handheld they should delete from outlook(and the revierse). some times it works and some times it doesnt. Help!

What model do you have? What software version are you running? What is your config for what overwrites what, etc.? Need to know that before a possible resolution can be offered.

Paul

using a 7230 with 3.7 on it. Our BESA server is running 3.6

Delete on: Mailbox and Handheld
Wireless Rec: On
Conflic: mailbox wins

You mentioned deleting in both directions. If you delete a message on the handheld it should be deleted in Exchange within minutes. The reverse is not true. If you delete a message in Outlook, it will only delete on the handheld if you do a "Synchronize Now" on the handheld (after changing the status of some message).

Is there any pattern to what does and doesn't delete?

i will have to pay more attention. there doesnt seem to be a pattern. Are you sure about the issue of deleting from outlook? i could swear that i have done that and it deleted my messages.

There probably are circumstances when it'll update the handheld, but not dependably.

When you delete e-mails from the hand held, you will note a new button on the menu "Reconcile Now". Try that... it is not there unless you have deleted e-mails from the hand held.

The Reconcile New menu item appears after any status change, including reading an unread message or marking one as unread again. It remains until the status change has been sent to the servers, usually a couple of minutes.

You mentioned deleting in both directions, so this might help. For the mail to be deleted succesfully from your device, the mail needs to be in the Deleted Items folder within the mailbox. So, if you do a SHIFT-Delete, the mail will stay on the device. Also, if a delegate deletes the mail from Outlook, it will also stay on the BlackBerry.

Cheers

It is worth mentioning that if you are deleting messsages from outlook and then also delete the message out of deleted items then the blackberry will not see this linkage and then message will remain on the handheld. A similar principle applies if you are filling messages to a PST folder which isnt linked to the blackberry.....

how can you empty the trash can in outlook from your handheld?

To clean out your Deleted Items...

- open message list
- click, select Options in the menu
- click again, select "Purge Deleted Items"

This works on all models, as long as you have wireless email synchronization enabled.
