Hi, I'm having some problems when I try to delete files on my Linux box from my WinXP box over Samba. The files appear to be deleted, but the space isn't reclaimed, and df -k is showing that the space is still being used. Is there a command that will take care of this problem? Or am I doing something wrong? Thanks for your assistance.

Doesn't Samba have a 'recycle bin' setting for each user by default? I think it does, and this would explain what you're seeing. See if you can empty the recycle bin.

I can't find any information on this recycle bin in the Samba config files. Does anybody know where I could look?

Now that I'm at the office to have a look at my Samba server, it seems I was wrong. What I was seeing was the desktop (KDE) recycle bin when I log in though samba. You should probably repost this question in forum865
