Deleting an SMS 2 Secondary site

OK - I have a secondary site that needs to be decommisioned. However there are a number of clients that still use the secondary site. As I understand it if I add the subnets of the seconday site to the primary they should reconfigure themselves - but I have done this to a test subent and although if I do a query they show hp in the parent site - they are still configured to the secondary site. Is this a matter of time e.g 24 hours or am I doing something wrong?

Also I've not had to delete a secondary site beofre so if you have any links to a decent 'how to do' I'd be very grateful.

As I belive you have to do some sql jobs to kill it of.
