I have removed a network printer from the network and have attempted to delete the printer from all workstations. I have 1 Windows XP pro computer that says it is deleting the printer, but it never goes away. The message "deleting" remains in the printers window even through shutdowns. It also looks for it every morning at log on causing and error message in the event log of the server. Any ideas?

Because your shutting down with a not responsive program the computer keeps that open in your profile...

Try Crtl/Alt/Delete and goto the task manager and see if it open in there (eg showing: *Printer* No Response) End task this and that should solve your problem.

make sure that there is not a print job pending from this machine. other wise it wont let you remove it if has a print job cached.

You could reconnect the printer temporarily to speed things up.

You could add this to the logon scripts for a while:

rundll32 printui.dll,PrintUIEntry /dn /n\\machine\printer

where \\machine\printer is the unc name for the printer share.

If you have rights to all machines, you can run this as a remote process:
rundll32 printui.dll,PrintUIEntry /gd /c\\machine /n\\machine\printer
