Deleted/Recreated SMS Database in SQL Ent Man, now unable to connect

My SMS database was showing as suspect in SQL Enterprise
Manager. I was reliably informed by my SQL guru to delete
and recreate the database.
This I have done but cannot connect with the management
console.
The SMSPROV.LOG is suggesting it has failed to connect to
the SMS server but why?
SMS and SQL Server are on the same box.
SQL 6.5
SMS 2.0

I'm experiencing a similar proplem after upgrading our SQL server. Were you able to recover without rebuilding your entire site?
