Hello,
I'm kind-of new to System Manger 8.1 but every experienced with Site Administration. That said, how do I completely remove a station from System Manger, example SIP J-179.
User profile or End-point, which one do I delete first?
Detailed steps would be great.
Thanks

If you haven't already received an answer, try these steps. SIP endpoints require a User. Legacy set types (H.323, Digital, Analog) do not require Users but may be built this way. Removing the user will remove any associated Endpoints.
Any station without an associated User may be deleted under Elements / Communication Manager / Endpoints / Manage Endpoints or directly in Communication Manager via your favorite terminal (ASA, PuTTY, TuTTY, etc.)

Note: If you delete a station in CM that is associated with a User in System Manager, removing that User becomes pretty near impossible. You will have to go back into CM and ADD the station back in. The good news is that it doesn't have to be exact just as long as the same extension is used.

Remove User Information
Removing users is much harder than adding, since there may be additional programming or messages. The system will kick out error messages if there are any issues. The most common issue is existing voice messages.

Clear Message Waiting Indicator
Under Communication Manager / Endpoints / Manage Endpoints
Select the endpoint of the user to be deleted and click on Maintenance / Clear AMW All to remove the message waiting indicator.

Station Usage
Under Communication Manager / Endpoints / Manage Endpoints
[ol ]
[li]Select the endpoint of the user to be deleted and click on More Actions / List Usage Extension. This will produce a list of all stations that have a bridged appearance of this user. Edit each one to remove the buttons.[/li]
[li]The list will also contain any group membership for the user (Pickup Group, etc.) Under Communication Manager / Groups click on the type of group and check the box next to the group number to be edited. Click edit and remove the station from the list. Click Enter to save.[/li]
[/ol]

Bridged Appearances
Edit the station and remove the bridged-appearances. You may get an “object in use” error if a bridged extension is on a call. If so, try again later.

Off-pbx-telephone station-mapping (EC500)
Under Communication Manager / Endpoints / Off PBX Endpoint Mapping
[ol ]
[li]Find the station to be removed and click the radio button next to it the click Edit.[/li]
[li]Remove the information from the form.[/li]
[li]Click Enter to Save.[/li]
[/ol]

User Deletion
Once all the user information is removed the station is ready for deletion. The first time you click Delete the user is removed from the Active users and placed in a Deleted users list. The user information still exists and the station cannot be reused. This is referred to as a Soft Delete. Soft Deleted Users can be restored to the Active list.

To manage the list of Soft Deleted Users:
[ol ][li]Go to Users / User Management / Manage Users.[/li]
[li]Click on More Actions and select Show Deleted Users.[/li]
[li]Check the box next to the user and click the appropriate action (Delete or Restore).[/li]
[li]When prompted click OK to confirm the action.[/li]
[/ol]

Deletion Errors
Communication Manager is pretty picky about how stations must be removed and will cause errors during the deletion process if the User Information was not cleared out as described above. Included are steps to move past the errors to delete the station. Please note the exact wording of the error in System Manager may be somewhat different than what is listed here.

Bridged appearances must be removed before removal.
There are two possibilities for this error: There are bridged appearances of this station on other phones or this station has bridged appearances of other phones.
Under Communication Manager / Endpoints / Manage Endpoints
Select the endpoint of the user to be deleted and click on More Actions / List Usage Extension. This will produce a list of all stations that have a bridged appearance of this user. Edit each one to remove the buttons.

If no station buttons are shown in the list usage report, there are bridged-appearances of other stations on the station to be removed and at least one is in use. Wait and try to remove the station again. You can also edit the station and remove the bridged-appearances to reduce the chances of one being in use when you try to remove the station.

Cannot change/remove extension; remove from Intra-Switch CDR form first
Under Communication Manager / Endpoints / Intra Switch CDR
[ol 1]
[li]Click the radio button next to any station listed and click Edit.[/li]
[li]Remove the extension from the list.[/li]
[li]Click Enter to Save.[/li]
[/ol]

Extension must be removed from Off-pbx-telephone station-mapping first
Under Communication Manager / Endpoints / Off PBX Endpoint Mapping
[ol 1]
[li]Find the station to be removed and click the radio button next to it the click Edit.[/li]
[li]Remove the information from the form.[/li]
[li]Click Enter to Save.[/li]
[/ol]

Message(s) waiting; please delete message(s) first
Under Communication Manager / Endpoints / Manage Endpoints
Select the endpoint of the user to be deleted and click on Maintenance / Clear AMW All to remove the message waiting indicator.

Object in use.
Someone is talking on this phone or a bridged-appearance of this station. This is a very good sign that you should indeed NOT delete it.
[ol ]
[li]Verify you are deleting the correct extension.[/li]
[li]Verify the extension has not been assigned to another user, such as a temp filling in the position.[/li]
[li]Wait until the phone is no longer in use. Remove the extension and hope for the best.[/li]
[/ol]

The station may also belong to a group. Run the List Usage report on the station to find any group membership.

Unknown Error / Internal Error
This very unhelpful error message could indicate an issue with your browser or a System Manager database. Try closing your browser and logging back in. If the user still cannot be deleted please contact your Business Partner. In some very rare instances the User database could be corrupt and Avaya must be engaged to correct.

Usage Options
Many of the deletion issues can be avoided by setting the Usage Options to automatically check for and clear the appropriate settings. Please note this is a very powerful tool and, while making the removal of users much easier, could make the removal process too easy. Please confirm with your System Administrator if any of these settings should be enabled.

Go to Elements / Communication Manager / Options / Usage Options
Under Remove Options check to appropriate items:
[ul]
[li]Bridged Extensions[/li]
[li]Hunt Group[/li]
[li]Intra-switch CDR[/li]
[li]Off-PBX-Telephone Station-Mapping[/li]
[li]Team Button[/li]
[li]Clear AMW[/li]
[li]Port Extension[/li]
[li]Vector[/li]
[/ul]

You can set the Default Settings for All Systems to use the same remove options on multiple CM systems or set them per CM system.
