I have a macro that involves several delete and append queries. It runs fine on my C drive, but when I copy the .MDB file to the network drive and attempt to run it there, Access just hangs. Could this be a permissions issue or is there some other solution?? Thanks in advance.

There are many issues involved in this. Most of them are the Net admin personnel, and their tuning of the network. Mostly, networks are 'tuned' to the optimization of the trivial (e-mail; outlook appointmnet books; (remote) printing of small documents; ... ). Databases require a mush different set up, and Ms. A goes even further, since all recordsets must traverse the entire net. The chances of getting the Net guru(s) to re tune the net to your needs are somewhere in the extreme negative value range, so the real options are to do the op on your system -even if you have to MOVE the .MDB to your system, do the op and MOVE it back to the net / share system for others to access, ro possibly switch the process to a split system, using one of the INDUSTRIAL STRENGTH db engines for the data part.

The latter is probably going to need to be done eventually anyway, but it is also a hard sell to management in any short term soloution.

Thanks for the help...I actually spoke with some of the tech staff this afternoon and it looks like this is a Netware related problem. If you are running the procedure on an NT server it will work just fine, but when you move it to Netware it hangs. I guess I have to wait a few months until our systems guys replace the netware servers with NT. Phewww!

NT is NOT likely to resolve this w/ Ms. A. / .MDB data files, unless the net gurus are going to set up for db operation - and really irritate the general populous.
