How to delete greeting from Ext 10. It only gives option to listen and record.

I have Partner Mail VS R5

What i want to be able to do

1) For Day Have Auto Attendant pick up after 4 rings (Play Open message) Then go mailbox 10 where no greeting should play, beep is heard and caller can leave message
2) For Night have auto attendant pickup after 1 ring (Play Closed message) Then go to mailbox 10 where no greeting should play, beep is heard and caller can leave message

Currently there is a greeting on mailbox 10 and i dont want it. The AA message is enough and dont need two greetings being played before caller can leave message
If i cant delete greeting for mailbox 10 how can send AA to automatically go to mailbox 11 where no greeting is currently setup
Thanks

Mike

You can't.

However, you can send incoming calls directly to Mailbox 10 (or 11, or whatever mailbox you choose), bypassing the auto attendant all together. Make the greeting in Mailbox 10 say "Thanks for calling ABC Company. We are open from 8am to 5pm, Monday through Friday. If you've reached this recording during those hours, we are assisting other clients. Please leave a message, yadda, yadda, yadda." Put a D.N.D. button on Ext 10 and treat it as if it were a Night Service button, for Immediate answering. One mailbox to cover both Day and Night situations.

To do this, #206-7-(Line Number)-2, #208-(Line Number)-(Covering Mailbox Number), be sure that the mailbox has Auto VMS Coverage #310-(Extension Number)-1 and has Immediate or Delayed Ring for the lines it will be covering. Use VMS Coverage Rings (#321) for the number of rings before answering in the Day mode.

Thanks I will try that

What about having one mailbox to cover daytime calls and one mailbox to cover night calls. Both can have different messages

What are the steps to bypass AA and if need be how to turn it back on

With Partner Main VS R5, you only have one greeting per mailbox. So, you wouldn't be able to have a different day/night greeting for mailbox 10. And, unless you want to go through the steps of changing primary ownership of the lines each night/morning, you are not going to be able to send day messages to one extension and night messages to another.

I know you said you don't want two messages (attendant and then mailbox), but that is really how the system is made to work.

I have changed my mind about the AA and would like to put it back but am having issues. I am somehow able to get AA to come back but i am unable to edit the greeting for it in mailbox #99

I think this how to put back AA, #206 7 1 (all lines) and #208 -- for all lines. When i do that the Old AA greeting does come up. When i go into admin mailbox #99 enter password and hit 9 and then 3 for AA. The message i try to edit seems to be the default AA greeting and not the AA greeting i hear after doing above steps.

Can you show me the proper way tp setup AA and then be able to edit the AA greeting. We have 3 lines all lines point to mailbox 10.

VS R5 voicemail has 4 auto attendants, so make sure you are modifying the correct one. Option 6 in AA 2, 3, and 4 is line assignment, so you can tell which lines are assigned to which auto attendant. Any line NOT assigned to 2, 3, or 4 is automatically assigned to AA1
