Delegating tasks with Outlook

I have a Server and 2 Workstations. I would like the ability to do the following:

1. Delegate tasks from my Workstation to someone on the other Workstation.

2. Share folders so that two people can work on the same email folder. Think I can do that with Net folder sharing??

Do I really need Exchange to do this or can I just use 2 versions of Outlook on each PC? I will most likely be using Outlook 2003 beta at first.

If I have to go to Exchange (which I have) is it complex to set up?

Thanks,

Jon

I don't know a way to do this with just Outlook. It is a piece of cake once Exchange is involved. I use the Tasks feature extensively. There are buttons to assign to different users, etc. I also set up a number of other users such as FAX or CONFERENCE ROOM, HELPDESK which gives each of these resources an inbox, calendar, task list, etc. Give "EVERYONE" full access to these resources. Then you can add these resources to your own Outlook by clicking Tools, Services (choose the Exchange Service), Properties, Advanced, Add. Then type the name of the "user" you want to add. We assign a user to actually monitor the resources. In my case, the receptionist monitors FAX of Conference Room. We ask a different technical employee to monitor HELPDESK every day. So, everytime I log in I have my own inbox as well as HELPDESK. End users don't have to remember which techie to email, they just send to HELPDESK. As the manager, I can watch HELPDESK and then create tasks assigned to individuals. This helps cut down clutter in the individual's email box while keeping a single point of reference to the original problems.

Another idea is to actually "invite" Conference Room to a meeting so you know the availability of the room in addition to the individuals who need to attend. We go so far as to have "Projector" as another user, meaning that an individual can request their resources as well as their people.
