Hi,

I will have to implement SMS on my network. I won't be responsible of the administration of SMS, I will delegate that to another employee. Now, I wonder, is it possible to let that employee administer SMS (especially software and hardware inventory) without giving him Domain Admin privileges? If yes, do you know any documentation about how to accomplish this?

Thanks!

After SMS is setup, you really don't need admin rights as sms doesnt use the logged on users credentials anyway.

All they will need rights to is items in the admin console, other than that they dont need any rights the sms account do all that.

The problem will come into play when he needs to troubleshoot stuff...which he cant if he doesnt have local admin rights on the machines. SO even there he doesnt need to have domain admin rights.

Hi tbrennans,

That's good news! Thank you very much for your help.

No problem, the sms setup will make a group called sms admins, just stick him in there and you should be good.
