I've got a RLS11 IPO with about 25 1408s and sip trunks. The basic issue is there is always a 2 / 3 second delay on calls. The firewall is a sonicwall that is maintained by another company. The internet connection is 100meg Ethernet leased line. I gave the IPO a public IP address and bypassed the firewall and there was no delay at all (I can't leave it like that so it is now behind the firewall again). Basically that's where my responsibility ends as it proved the firewall is the issue. As predicted the firewall maintainer is blaming the IPO. So, I'm pretty much stuck. I had the sip provider run some traces and they could see the sip packets were getting 'PAT' applied to them and port 5060 was getting translated. I did doffer up this info but didn't have much luck. We have confirmed with the traces that SIP ALG is not running. Does anyone have any ideas on where I could point the firewall maintainer?

I have several IPO r11 behind a Sonicwall with SIP trunks and no issues. We’re Avaya and Sonicwall certified...

On the Sonicwall, have your IT provider:

1. Make sure SIP transformations are disabled.

2. Create an outbound NAT policy for the IP address of the IPO, and on the advanced tab of the NAT policy, place a check mark in “disable source port remap”.

3. Verify the audio ports on the IPO are wide open inbound on the Sonicwall from ANY source. This is not a security risk. This is audio only ports. Not 5060.

I wrote a guide for Sonicwall and IPO r9.1. It would be the same for r11. I’ll find it and put up a link shortly.

Thank you David, that is perfect. I'll let them know!

Cheers.
