[newbie alert!]

I've set up a new cdp to be passed to a Dialogic Media Gateway, but there seems to be about a four second delay from when I press the last digit until the call hits the gateway. Any idea why the delay is there?

Rory.

Have you check FLEN ? If it is 0 change it to the expected digits length.

This is what I did to set up 724:

LD 87
REQ new
CUST 0
FEAT cdp
TYPE dsc
DSC 724
FLEN 3
DSP dn
RRPA
RLI 7

Rory.

FLEN needs to be 0 OR DSC PLUS what else you are dialing.
DSC-XXXX - FLEN 7

Mato' Was'aka

I'm not dialling anything else, just a 3-digit extension (724 in the post above).

I was told by the vendor that FLEN needed to be 3 because that's the length of the extensions.

Rory.

Take a look/post the Trunk Route Data Block (LD21) for the first ENTR in Route List 7 (LD86)

When looking at the Trunk Route, you'll see the ACOD. If you dial the ACOD, then the 3 digit extensions, does it ring immediately?

Your phone should be TGAR 0 and CLS UNR for the test calls.

you'll have to excuse my lack of knowledge on this, but I can't see a route list 7. Here's what I got:

I can't see a RLI 7 at all, or am I missing something?

Rory.

An RLI is not a Trunk route, it is a "list of routes capable of processing a call". To see RLI 7, do this:

>LD 86
REQ PRT
CUST 0
FEAT RLB
RLI 7

[©] GHTROUT.com [⇔] A Variety of Free Resources for Nortel Meridian/CS1000 System Administrators

That gives me this:

RLI 7
ENTR 0
LTER NO
ROUT 3
TOD 0 ON 1 ON 2 ON 3 ON
4 ON 5 ON 6 ON 7 ON
CNV NO
EXP NO
FRL 0
DMI 0
FCI 0
FSNI 0
BNE NO
SBOC RRA
COPT 1
CBQ NO

ENTR 1
LTER NO
ROUT 23
TOD 0 ON 1 ON 2 ON 3 ON
4 ON 5 ON 6 ON 7 ON
CNV NO
EXP NO
FRL 0
DMI 0
FCI 0
FSNI 0
BNE NO
SBOC NRR
CBQ NO

ISET 0
NALT 5
MFRL 0
OVLL 0

Then I did the ld 21 for rout 3 and the ACOD was 7103. Then I dialled 7103724 and there was a delay of 8 seconds before I got ringback.

Any ideas?

For info, here's the output from the ld21:

OK, then we have determined the problem isn't BARS, because when you dial 7103+724 the delay still occurs.

BARS is used when you dial the CDP number "723" alone.

By dialing 7103+724, the call isn't processed using BARS.

Do you have any other CDP numbers that go to this system, but do not have the delay?

No, I've set up three CDP numbers today and the 4-second delay is on all of them (except when you dial 7103 beforehand, and then it's 8 seconds). Any reason why the delay is twice as bad when I dial 7103 beforehand?

Not sure why. Being a PRI, I would set up DCH Messaging to see if there is anything revealed in that. If you have never done that, take a look in the books, starting in LD96, and looking at the command ENL MSGO x

Another thing - the Trunk route is set for DSEL VOD - I would have picked DSEL 3VCE. Not sure why that would cause a delay, but it might.

Thanks for all your help on this - I think I'll bounce this one back to the vendor.

Regards,

Rory.

Wouldn't the T-1 between the 2 systems need to be setup as a TIE PRI and not DID? It seems like I experienced the same problems between a Nortel and Asterisk when attempting to use NI-2 with DID trunks. We changed them to QSIG and TIE trunks and it worked great.

I notice IDC on the route. Doesn't that eliminate TIE as a choice?

Of course, IDC may not even be required if the Dialogic Media Gateway never dials back into the CS1000.

[©] GHTROUT.com [⇔] A Variety of Free Resources for Nortel Meridian/CS1000 System Administrators

No, IDC can work with TIE. There may be other reasons sosolid can't use TIE but IDC shouldn't be one of them.
