My defragging didn't last too long so I tried defragging again and this is the message I received.
"Disc fragmenting cannot continue because of corruption in the file folder c:\windows\system32\configure.
Does this mean anything to you? Let me know what you think it is

Is the location mentioned C:\WINDOWS\system32\config? "Configure" may be a slip of the tongue or typing error, otherwise that is not a location I am familiar with.

You could try running ChkDsk to check your drive for errors. Right click your Drive icon/ Properties/ Tools/ Error Checking. Check both boxes.

If it is the folder I alluded to, you might find next time you reboot you may not get back in to XP (if there is corruption in that folder), not meaning to frighten you, but I hope you have a backup of valuable data?

What is the exact error message about defragging?
