Hi there, bit of info please!!!!

I've been tasked to defrag our servers, we've gone along the lines of seperate DC, Exchange box, Apps server and File and Print server (Win2K) at each site. After defragging the servers it seems that some will not defrag. The defrag runs but the % stays the same. This is mainly on DC's and on Exchange boxes. I realise that the defrag won't run properly if the drives are being constantly accessed (I think!) so this maybe the problem. But then again it works on some and not on others! Any ideas how I'm best defragging the machines, possibly out of hours or in safe mode? Any suggestions would be welcome.

Thanks a lot.

Thanks for getting back. Got to be the defrag utility that comes with Windows - don't ask why, it's a long story.

The Winternals Defrag Manger is by far the best product I’ve seen for your enterprise and best of all its CHEEEAAAAP!! It works for both servers and workstations and is something like $2.00 per machine. I had users calling me saying "What did you do to my computer!? It’s so much faster!" Good luck!

See what you're saying Hockeman, but as I said earlier, it's got to be the built in utility...anyone got any thoughts??? :)
