Currently I dial long distance into my Definity for any maintanence and when im on site I use a dumb terminal hooked up to it.

I would like to hookup a laptop/desktop with DSA so that I can dial into our network then pcanywhere into that laptop/desktop. How can I go about this?.. The LD charges are starting to kill me.

Thanks

The Network and PCanywhere option is the easy part.

The PC with DSA will require PCanywhere with the host application applied. The DSA software can be installed on that PC and connected directly to the Terminal port on the back of the definity.

The login on the dsa can be set up as direct connect and auto login to the switch and can replace the terminal.I think the emulation is still 513, or if not 4410.

Once the PC is connected and dsa works locally, run the PCanywhere host application and connect remotely to the pc.

Once you access the pc, then run the DSA application and connect.

It is not too hard to do.

Don't know what version you are on,
on 9.5 and up you can put in a C-Lan card and use native IP access over you WAN lines.
It is an investment but it might be worth while.
On an older release?;
Avaya and several other vendors now sell these small terminal server devices, that you can just hook up to the serial port on one side and ethernet on the other.
These are more solid solutions, believe me I tried this as well, and the pc on the other side always manages to hang itselves at times you need it :).

Hope this helps

Telcoguy,
Could you give me one of the options on a terminal server type attachment. I'd like to give this a try. Thanks.

The Avaya version is called IOlan +104
But companies like Blackbox sell them as well...
