I have a Definity G3 with an intermittent issue. During the daytime the night bell will "occasionally" ring with an incomming call from the outside. They dialed our main number which route through our PRI T1. Any ideas why our night bell would ring "occasionally" during the day with call traffic?

Thank you for your responses.

Just an idea: operator pushing 'night service' button when she goes out for a smoke? ehm...
Where did you administer night service? On the Listed-directory-number, on the Trunk-group or via attendant vectoring maybe?

Kind Regards,

I am having the exact same problem and would also love to know the answer to this one. My night bell will ring once or twice throughout the day. It is never at the same time of day and will never ring more than once or twice in a row. Several times I have called our receptionist right after I hear it ring to ask if she had the system on night ring but she doesn't. I thought it was because my relay switch was going bad but now that I hear someone else is having the same problem I'm starting to wonder. We have a G3 running Ver 6 and we are using PC Console for our switchboard. What about you?

Our bell is also included in the "Call-Pkup Group". Do a "list groups" for the bell line.

Attitude is everthing.

I had a similar problem to this a while ago, it turned out to be people calling the wrong extension. The extension they called was an analogue station that the night bell was attached to. All I did was change the extension number to something that was way out the normal DDI range.

If you have a call logger try run a report on who dialed any of the stations

hope this helps cheers jay

I'm not using PC console. The extension is not a DID number and the calls are routing in from the outside...still looking for a good tip...Thank you all!

Maybe its "cover path" or "cover group" related. Do a list groups.

I am with lopes1211. If the test on the station form are set to "yes" the switch will do a ring generator test that will ring the bell once as part of the test procedures.
