Our data provider allows us to view tickets online for circuit problems with T-1s. I've worked enough years to know most of the terminology, but two terms that I see in the ticket comments I can't find much about, even via Google.

In the testing comments, there is:
"SpltF Nynx Loopback FAILED"

I know that the comments "SpltF - CSU Loopback FAILED" means they can't loop my CPE equipment, and "SpltF - Smartjack-5-Bit Loopback FAILED" should mean they can't loop the NIU at the site. But I've always wondered what the definition is for the terms "SpltF" and "Nynx".

I think "SpltF means Full Split.

When testing a circuit that is cross-connected inside a DCS (or DACS if you will) you can split a cross-connection in 1 direction or do a bi-directional split.

Nynx is probably "NYNEX"(New England Telephone & New York Telephone).....the portion of Verizon that services New York, Rhode Island & Massachusetts.

NYNEX used to include Maine, New Hampshire & Vermont, but Verizon sold the networks & facilities in those states to Fairpoint Communications a while back.
