I have always downloaded LiveUpdates and have seen "Virus Definitions."
When I downloaded LiveUpdates today, I notice that there appeared to be a 'new' download called something like "Anti Virus....."
However, when I checked the "Norton AntiVirus" page in my NIS, I noticed that the Definitions were updated.
Is this new file "Anti Virus...." the NEW "Definitions" that I always saw previously?
Please advise and thank you.

(I posted this thread previously, but don't see it listed anywhere.)

Hi Alice,

This is Mike from the Norton Authorized Support Team responding to your posting.

It appears that you have been infected with "AntiVirusXp2008" infection which is NOT from Symantec, but is rogue malware. The first thing to do is to run LiveUpdate manually to ensure you have the latest patches applied, and to then restart your computer in Windows Safe Mode and run a full scan there.

If the infection is still there after the scan, please follow the removal instructions for this infection.

Also, you mention that you are using Norton Internet Security 2005, which is an older product that we no longer support. For optimal protection going forward, I would strongly advise you to upgrade to the 2008 version, which has many more advanced detection features to keep you safe from infections.

Thank you,
Mike
