Out of curiosity;
I have just spent the last 6 hours with technical support trying to deafault a UC module.
different memory sticks, different uc modules (I have 2).
Cannot get either of them to default via the docs. 1 stick is a cheapy, cheapy the other is Kingston.

Has anyone had this work for them? Did you involve a ouiga board?

Did you use the usb tool to create a bootable stick?

BAZINGA!

I'm not insane, my mother had me tested!

yes.
they are both in Fat32 format. did a full reformat of the sticks, reloaded the tool and still doesn't work.

Connect a monitor and look for errors.

I have a monitor connected to it.
It bypasses the stick though and consistently boots from the uc module. Doesn't even try to boot from the stick (a light comes on the stick so I know it's connected).
Also tried changing the "priority" of what gets loaded (using F2) and still doesn't load.

Which folder is the iso?

There are 2 videos links in the FAQ above provided by Westi
Have a look at the second one about upgrading. Using USB stick in ucm module,
You might get pointers from that

Thanks snowman, I double checked the video... but like I say, I was on with Disti tech support for 6 hours and yes, we did the steps exactly as shown.

Peter, "If" you mean is the iso in the "image" file on the stick... it's not. Otherwise, I'm not sure what you mean.

Thanks for your responses. It appears as though we've run out of racetrack on these 2 modules and the boss is yelling at the disti to get them both replaced. I was curious as to whether anyone had this work because it seems odd to me that I can be instructed through the proper steps on 2 separate modules and neither would default as advertised.

Thanks again.

When you use the USB initiator to create a bootable USB stick then you must put the UCM iso on it.
You need to put it in the folder called C110Iso (not in images!!!)
Then put it in to the UCM and press the top button and keep it pressed until both orange leds go out.
Then it will reinstall the UCM and this takes about 45-60 minutes.
You will see the led flash once in a while on the USB stick.
To be sure what happens keep a monitor connected if it is the first time :)
Let me know if this works for you.

Thanks Peter;
that's exactly what I have done... your step by step and watching the video on the avaya website.
To no avail. It did not work on 2 seperate uc modules (again, I was on the phone with our distributor's tech support for 6 hours following their lead).

Their only suggestion was to try a different memory stick (I tried 2 different ones).

We have since raised our voices excessively and received 2 new modules which will be programmed this evening.

thanks again for your quick responses.

I may try programming something basic on one of these and see if I can make the reset work... time permitting... (there's already been A LOT of lost time on these projects).

I feel your pain, I had an issue and thought the module is just junk as I also tried 2 different USB flash drives and no go but seeing that the module came just fresh out of the box I tried a third one (Sandisk 4GB) and it worked. I have taken that and have it now permanently repurposed for imaging UCM's
It may not be the USB flash drive and the UCM might be toast but make sure you use a good brand name before you toss them.

Give a tech a solution and he will be back tomorrow to ask you the next question, teach a tech how to read the manual and he will be able to solve the problems for a life time.

Good point there Peter,
'You need to put it in the folder called C110Iso (not in images!!!)'

UC 110 won't boot from the USB if the iso is just dumped on to the disk.

Did you use creosote on the hen house?

It was in the separate folder, identified as C110Iso.

I have since gotten the replacements and before sending them back, sent them to a colleague who has had success re-installing/re-imaging uc modules.
He wasn't able to either. So, I'm feeling less like there was something I did wrong and more like these 2 modules had "issues".

The 2 bad, bad modules have now been sent back from whence they came.

I don't even try anymore, send them straight back to Avaya for repair.

A simple mind delivers great solutions

I know I'm late to the game on this one. But I've noticed that the USB Creator tool doesn't always set the bootable flag on the USB. You can use diskpart in windows to set the flag.

Any chance you could be more specific?
I'm still having issues (on a couple of different uc modules) trying to get this to function. Tried different usb sticks and haven't been able to make it work.
