Does anyone know of a backdoor password to default the password on a MICS .I picked up a new customer whos old tech passed away. I know how to reset the system, but this customer is full blown on this system and I hate to have to start over. Also there is one station port that keep going down. The display will stay lit but the set does not function. If I disconnect it and re-connect it it will flash and come up but still not function. Do the same thing again and its back up and working for another day or so. Any ideas?

NRU will show you all the passwords:
- Passwords
- COS passwords
- Call log passwords
- Programming passwords
- Installer <- THIS IS WHAT YOU'RE LOOKING FOR!
- System cood. plus
- System coordnator
- Basic
- Registration password
- Hospitality passwords

Thanks cowenby but I know the default programers password. This as been changed and I would like to reset it to the default without losing all the programing.

The foregoing assumes that there's a FastRAD setup and you know the RAD password. Probably not, in this case...

Can you install a FastRAD without the config pw? If so, you're set...

If you can install a FastRad without the config password it would be news to me. Thanks for your replys.

Now I understand NRU. Here isthe answer to my own question.
NORSTAR MODULAR/COMPACT ICS
How do I reset an unknown configuration password that was changed on my MICS 4.x without defaulting the system by shorting the motherboard capacitor and loosing all my programming?
In N.R.U. version 8.1 use the Excel file that relates to your software level and unit type. These files are located in the C:/ICSRT/WORKBOOK folder. Run the file and enable the macros. Then set your unit parameters up. You will select only password information for acquisition. Select the ACQUIRE tab in the Excel file and access the unit via a RAD. The current passwords for the system are now displayed

Roysanders, you don't have to make it that hard. Just use the Browser tool to get in to change the password back. That way you don't have to acquire the spreadsheet. You don't need a password to use the brouser.

Thanks Marv01,
Thats sounds alot easier. Will have to get back on site to install rad and give it a shot.

To install a FastRAD all you need is a phone and F9**.
If the RAD is used, you need to know its password.

Browser tool rules :)
