Hi All,

I'm trying to figure out why, after saving a document with a "Normal" view in Word 2000, it's not possible to change this behavior. Each time I open the document after that point, it always opens up in Normal view, even after saving it repeatedly in a different view.

What makes me think it's pretty buggy, is that when I copy all the contents of the file to another document, and save it in the desired view style, it doesn't mess up.

Why does this happen?

Three things:

Is there any code in the file? (Turn on macro virus protection to see if you get the warning when you open the file.)

Tools-Options-Background pagination (turn it off).

Perhaps you've already got a macro virus?

Thank you for your response, Dreamboat.

There is no VBA or macros occurring in the background, nor macro warnings on this particular file, tho others I onpen and make, have macro warnings which are displayed. I was able to easily re-create the issue with a different file, making me wonder if this isn't typical behavior for the program.

I can't find an option for background pagination, is this the same as background printing?
