Hi All

We are running Citrix XPe FR2 on Windows 2000.

We have installed Quickbooks 2004 and when we go to printer setup none of the printers are visable for the client. All that appears in the drop down list is everybody elses printers.

Yet if I open Word or any other application, the default printer is visable.

Has anybody else had the same problem ???

Looking forward to the replies.

We have a similar problem. Quickbooks is installed to one server in the farm. It is pushed out as a published app. All our servers have all the network printers installed and users can choose which one they want to set as default. Sometimes the user can see the printer for his floor and sometimes not. I talked to Intuit. Their answer, repeated over and over, was "we don't support citrix installations". My reply was ok now, that said, what do I need to do to fix it? Couldn't pry much information out of him. He said make sure you install the printers in windows. Duh. He also said when Quicken first starts it will enumerate the printers installed on that particular system. If you have about 40 printers installed like we do, Quicken counts up only so far then stops. It will only show the printers it enumerated before it stopped counting. Don't know what the number is, but he thought it was in the 20 range. I'm not sure whether he said when Quicken first opens or when the server reboots as to when the enumeration takes place. I got as much as I could out of him without torture, which wasn't much. Basically he said we were on our own.

This is kind of off topic but we ran into a similar problem with another software vendor (not Quickbooks). After doing some troubleshooting we found that the software was incompatible with printer driver...when the software starts it queried the printer driver...since it couldn't query the HP 4000 driver, we ran into problems with not see printers or no default printers. Is there maybe a printer driver issue where only certain people connecting to a certain model printer is experiencing this problem?

In the Citrix Management Console, there is a setting to wait to launch the application until printers are created. Perhaps this is a problem...we had a similar problem where the printer needed to be created prior to the application starting because this is the only time the application looked for a printer...just a thought!!

CMC...Propertied of the published application...ICA Client Options, at the bottom of the screen...

Great information and good places to start. Interesting that the default printer that is missing is a newly installed printer. We are not experiencing the problem at other locations where there hasn't been a change in the printer. We'll look in the Citrix Management Console for the setting to wait to launch the application until printers are created.

thank you,

Right click on printer management and update printer and driver information. This sometimes give it the pull through with a christmas tree. I suspect it is an issue with the app and driver. Please anyone who gets a result post back.
