Hi,
I'm installing a MG1000E PRI Gateway on a CS1000E (Rls 7.6). I'm trying to log into the PRI Gateway, but the documentation is not clear on the default password. The username is admin.

Does anyone have the default password?

Regards
Terry

How are you trying to log into the PRI Gateway? What are you connected to? All it does is use an MGC card which utilizes your single sign opn from UCM.

Hi,
I'm connected through the serial port of the card and using Procomm. On booting I see the summary page indicating what is pre-configured on the card. Everything is set to E1. I need to change that to T1. On power up it's asking me for a login name. I enter admin and then it prompts me for a password. I've tried admin, 0000, and my UCM account with no luck.

Are you saying that I can log into the card from the MGC?

Regards
Terry

I honestly have no idea what you are talking about. A PRI Gateway is nothing more than a Media Gateway with an MGC card. You build your PRI's or T1's in the PBX based on what loop you assign to this Media Gateway. What are you connected to when you see this login message? The serial port of what card?

I'm connected to the PRI card (which can have up to 8 spans) in the MG1000E Chassis. The Chassis has an MGC card which is already registered to the CallServer and the second card is the NTDW70AAE5 (PRI Gateway E1/T1 main pack).

Have you looked in the book? I found this right off

1. To log on to the CLI, enter the command:
admin
The system displays the current directory (/ root directory).
2. Press enter for the password.
3. To move to the system administration directory, enter the command:
cd sadmin
The system displays the /sadmin directory.
4. Enter the command:
system
The system displays the system attributes and prompts you to modify, save, or
cancel.
5. Enter the command:
Configure an E1/T1 card

Doesn't look like it requires a password. Look in

Yes I did actually. Read the document many times actually, that's why I'm here.

It's the same document you are looking at. It doesn't work and this is a brand new gateway out of box.

It prompts you for a password. I spent an hour online chatting with someone from Avaya and they didn't know.

I have a question though. Have you programmed a PRI gateway before. Is it that once you program it in the CallServer, it will automatically change the spans to T1 based on the programming on the Call Server?

I will try something tomorrow in the lab and let you know if it works.

Looks like the web interface is easier once you have an IP address assigned.

Tried

username - admin
password - admin

username - mgp
password - admin

None worked. Even tried the admin account for UCM

And that's the problem. In order to set the IP you have to log in. On booting I saw the default IP but no mask. So I even tried connecting my laptop to the card. But without the subnet mask I'm shooting in the dark.

To answer your question, NO, I have not installed one before. Just reading the books.

In that case I suggest you engage your Nortel/Avaya vendor at this point.

Ok so played around with this today.

Points to note
1. The default password is blank (as in no password)
2. Once logged in you can change the ELAN IP address, gateway and mask
3. Once you do this you can log into the web interface using (username - admin, password - admin)
4. You need to configure EACH span as either T1 or E1 with the usual configuration.
5. If a span or slot was configured on the CallServer this configuration will override anything you attempt to put in.

Terry
