I have a PM6.5 document (Win98 OS) and after I have input and formatted approximately 50 pages I find now that the default [No style] contents has change to what I use for setting up heading lines (font change, text letter spacing, rule after text, etc).

I've tried opening PM without any document so as to go back to the default [No style] settings... but when I later open PM and my document, I'm right back to the "modified" [No style] settings.

PM won't let me delete [No style] and if I try to modify it, PM insists on having a new name assigned (in other words, I can't delete or modify [No style]

Is there any way that you know of on modifying/deleting [No style] in a document... or is there a way to find out when/where it was changed?

Please advise.

Thanks

hi GlenM,

If you want to edit the 'no style' simply do the following. When you open the document with the changed 'no style'. have nothing selected and then change all the text attributes just like you would when changing things with no document open. When you started a document and you have the trouble you have the changed 'no syle' is appended on to that document: so you must change it in the document itself.

Hope this helps

Thank you for the suggestion....

I changed all the text, paragraph, etc characterists and tried to same it as "No style" (without the quotes) and it would not let me do that... said it was an invalid name.

I tried "[No style]" with the same results.

I then tried "no style" and that worked, but now I have [No style] and "no style" as it won't let me delete [No style].

Would like to get rid of [No style] but guess there isn't any way of doing that.

Again, thanks for the help.

Hi, Glen,

No, you can not get rid of [no style] - it is the default style, and will remain when all the other styles have been deleted.

GLOBAL DEFAULTS
To set up PM's global defaults and global [no style], load up PM but do not open any publication.

To amend the text, paragraph, tab and hyphenation settings, use the TYPE menu.

Any settings you now make will become the default for a new "untitled" publication.

That includes setting margins, double-sided, default "compose to" printer, autoflow, "snap to" and anything else which not greyed out.

They will automatically be saved when you exit PM.

PUBLICATION DEFAULTS
As Carlow said…

To set up Publication defaults and the Publication [no style], load up PM, open the Publication, select the master pointer tool but do not select any image or text block.

To amend the text, paragraph, tab and hyphenation settings, use the TYPE menu.

Any settings you now make will become the default for a new "untitled" publication.

That includes setting margins, double-sided, default "compose to" printer, autoflow, "snap to" and anything else which not greyed out.

They will automatically be saved when you save the publication.
