How do I get apache to recognize the .php extension so I can access the index by simply going to the domain name( rather than having to qualify the the entire URL ie.
php is working fine but I can only access the index if it has an .html extension.

I checked out all the config files but couldn't find anything.

Thanks

also I am guessing a restart will be necessary

Yes. The first match found will be sent back.

Kind of reference to negotiatable content files, usually localized documents.
