I have an NT 4.0 server acting as a firewall/proxy server. This is being handled by Alta Vista Firewall 98 s/w. There is a private and public card in this server. The private card's default gateway is itself, the public card is using the router as a default gateway. I can get out to the Internet from that particular server, but no where else on the network. I can ping that same server from anywhere on the network. Any ideas? Thanks.

Your gateway[if there is one] address for other machines should give path to your proxy server IP.Or you can use the proxy internal IP address as the gateway for other machines.
Rasindia
rasindia@123india.com
<a href= IndiaMalluEngineers
You should have only one default gateway on the server and that should be the address to the internet. Since you have set up a default gateway for the internal card that points at itself, the packets aren't going anywhere after they reach the server from the internal side. Try removing the internal default gateway and just using one, on the external side.
