Dears,
I am a newbie for IBM websphere but do have a lot of experience with IBM HTTP server ( powered by apache ) and AIX O/S.
For testing purpose for a customer , i downloaded trial version of Websphere( version 5).
I installed Apache server on AIX machine & tested it successfully.
I installed Websphere Application server ( custom ) & select only web server plugins as i want that WAS should use my already installed HTTP Server.
At this stage i astonished that now database server option appears during WAS installation ( as all red books says that database components
options etc etc will appear during WAS installation).
Please note that I have already DB2 Version 7 installed on AIX machine.I followed all steps for DB2 instance creation
for WAS.
Now after WAS installation completion , i got screen with some major steps( start server, Administrative console , verify installation etc)
I choose start server option...it goes well and started server1 ( i guess that it is the default application server)
I choose verify installation...it goes well
But there are problems also::::

I could not start Administrative console ;;it goes to
it says:
Web group /admin not defined.

I also could not access servlet snoop which the docs says as a most reliable way of testing WAS functionality.

Am i missing any steps....can any body help me out on these problems?
I also think that database instance creation is neccessary
for admin server ONLY and as there is no option available
in trial version of WAS for DB connection so that's
why admin server not starting.

Can you beleive that there is no admin.config file
on AIX system after WAS installation

Also how can i start my admin server from command line
as there is not adminclient.sh.

Please help me .. i am very much confused!!!!
