Dead fiber module?

Hi all -

I've run into a problem that I hope has a (relatively) inexpensive answer: I swapped a 100 base-fx single fiber module (3C16970) from a 24-port Superstack II 3300 with a 100 base-fx dual fiber module (3C16971) from a 12-port Superstack II 3300.

The single fiber module works like a champ, but the dual fiber module is freezing the 12-port switch -- all of the status/packet LEDs are lit solid. I've tried swapping the modules back and forth, but the switch with the dual fiber module exhibits the same behavior every time.

This leads me to believe that I have a toasted dual fiber module on my hands, but I was hoping someone here might have some other ideas about why I'm running into this problem. After all, I'd hate to spend $700 for a new module if there's another (cheaper!) solution.

Thanks in advance,

Don

Check your Firmware level to make sure that you are running the latest and greatest version. Using an older version of Firmware may have an incompatibility between modules.

Good Luck!

Thanks for the suggestion salserocito. One of the switches had been running that card previously, so I'm confident its firmware was okay.

In the end, I got a new fiber card and that did the trick. Sure wish there'd been a cheaper out, though.
