DDE Error

My users get this error "Word Could Not Re-Establish DDE Connection to MS Excel" when trying to merge an Excel Spreadsheet having more than 1000 lines with a Microsoft Word Document. This is an issue as it happens daily. One solution I tried is clearing the "Ignore Other Applications" check box under tools in Excel and using Excel Converter in Word. So far nothing I've tried is working. Any suggestions?

It could also be a virus in the normal.dot file

If you have up-to-date anti-virus software, run it. If you do not, get a copy of the normal.dot file from a clean computer and replace yours.

You don't need to replace normal.dot. If you just delete or rename it, Word will create a brand new one when you launch it. Full instructions on Word troubleshooting, and a bunch of info on normal.dot:
