Hello forum.
I'm banging my head against the errors arrising when trying to demote BDC.

I already set the DNS server properly so it could resolve the names but for some reason when I'm trying to run dcpromo it fails with error:
"The DSA operation is unable to proceed because of a DNS lookup failure. "

Please advice what I have to do.
Thanks,
Yuri

Have you tried to set the dns statically? It has been along time since I have run dcpromo, but I am thinking I may have had to disconnect it from the network. Don't hold me to that, just trying to jog someone's memory.

could be missing an SRV record for the DC. try restarting NETLOGON on your DC so it re-registers it's SRV's....

Hello guys.
Thanks for the help. Here is what I did - I've added the own IP address to tcp/ip settings of the DNS server which is the PDC as well and when tried to run the dcpromo I've got following error:

***********************************************************
The Directory Service failed to replicate off changes made locally.

"The DSA operation is unable to proceed because of a DNS lookup failure. "

***********************************************************

So should I wait till the PDC will try to get both servers in sync?

Thanks,
Yuri

And here is the new one:

The Directory Service failed to replicate off changes made locally.

"The replication operation failed because of a schema mismatch between the servers involved. "
