Hi guys,

I was wondering how many DCHs i can set in each group. I have an 81c with 3 groups. I really appreciate your help if there is a limit to create DCHs, or install T1s in a group.

thanks in advance.

You have 16 device numbers per group, 0 thru 15. Each MSDL card can handle 4 d-channels, so that is really your only limitation. Basically 16 x 4 =64. However, you have tty ports also that take up device numbers. Each Dual Port T-1 card takes 1 slot and there is 32 loops per network group, so in theory you could have 16 T-1 cards in a group for a total of 32 T-1's.

Thanks again for your help. So if i need to add a DDP2 card with daughter board for DCHs what DNMU, MSDL and port can I use if i have the next current configuration:

I really appreciate all your help.

DCH TTY Type GRP DNUM PORT MSDL Des
0 QSDI 0 0 SYS _MONITOR
2 QSDI 0 2 NETPATH_MODEM
4 QSDI 0 4 ACDPRINTER
5 QSDI 0 5 MAINT
6 QSDI 0 6 RELIATEL
7 QSDI 0 7 RTEL
8 CPSI 8 0 CORE_0
9 CPSI 9 1 CORE_1
13 PTY 13 0 TM_1
14 PTY 14 1 TM_2
10 MSDL 0 12 1 12 CALL_M_2
11 MSDL 0 12 3 12 CALL_M_2
12 MSDL 2 12 0 12 LOCAL
13 MSDL 2 8 0 9
15 MSDL 2 2 1 2 L3
16 MSDL 0 12 2 12 L3

The DNUM and port all depends on what Network Group you are putting the DDP in. Keep in mind the daughter board and an MSDL card are different. A daughter board takes 1 DNUM but only gives you 2 ports. An MSDL card takes 1 DNUM but gives you 4 ports but requires cabling between the DDP and MSDL Card.

Thanks KFC.
Understood :)
So if i want to add a new DDP2 with daughter board, what DNUM and port I can use if i have the next configuration.

I really appreciate your help

Hard for me to tell from your print out what you have. DNUM's are 0 thru 15 for each network group. The bad thing about a daughter board is that it's DNUM will have to be available in that network group. An MSDL card can go in any network group to support a DDP in a different network group. So you would also need to know if you are using a daughter board what Loops your DDP is going to use. I hate those daughter boards, it reaally limits what you can do. I prefer the 4 port MSDL Card.

Ok I need the DDP2 with daughter board to create two PRIs with their own DCH.
In resume the last print out is as next:

group 0 has next DNUMs= 0,2,4,5,6,7,12
group 2 has next DNUMs= 2,8,12

so each DNUM has 4 ports (0,1,2,3,4) right?

so if i need to install the DDP and create 2 DCHs in group 2 i can use DNUM 4 with ports 1,2, is this correct? for example:

DCH 17 DNUM 4 port 1
DCH 18 DNUM 4 port 2

and I believe in the configuration the system will prompt me to set a MSDL but, what can i put in this parameter for each DCH?

Thanks, I cannot thank you enough for your help.
