Here's my situation. I have setup a phantom 500 set that default call forwards all calls to a fax server. For the most part it works perfectly. However, there are a couple companies that are calling this number and finding their calls forwarded to the receptionist/attendant. I can not duplicate this problem at all. I have even had them call the line from their cell phones and it works perfect.

The only similarity I can find thus far is that both of the problem callers are sending faxes to this line using a fax server of their own.

Here's the TNB:

Ok. How does that effect incoming calls?

YOU NEED A NCOS HIGH ENOUGH TO CALL FORWARD OUTSIDE

OLD ROLMEN WORKING ON NORTELS

none, the ncos is the Class of service for the set, it allows the set to make outbound calls. lower Ncos is to restrict the phone from making LD calls or INT calls.

Ok. I've set it to 7, which should allow it to make any calls. But I'm still confused why it only had problems with certain forwards. It is forwarding to a local number anyway. Sorry to be dense.

Change the CLS DIP to DTN, it may be the fax server thats failing isn't waiting long enought for the dial pluse digits to go though changing it to DTN shou;d speed it up. you might also try outing the 500 set and making it an ACD Queue instead.

It might be a number restriction in LD 49, normally your NCOS 0 maps to FCR Table 0. CHekc what is marked in the FCR Tables by doing a print in LD 49.

If you would have a fcr taht works for all calls, national and international it shoudl look similar to this:

REQ prt
TYPE fcr
CUST 0
CRNO 0

CRNO 0
INIT ALOW
DENY 00
DENY 0900
DENY 0190

This aboce code blocks all call starting with 00, 0900, 0190.

The fax server you are talking is this your or an external one calling.

If it is external check as well if you have trunk barring configured.

Regards

Ok I'm still having issues. There are now about 3 places that experience this problem, where the call is not forwarded correctly to the fax server, but instead it goes to the receptionist.

Also would it work any better if it was a phantom ACD?

You should try the ACD, as that is what I would use instead of a Phantom phone.

Do you have any restrictions for calls that display either "Restricted, Blocked, or Unknown"? Sometimes a switch may default those calls to the receptionist.

Did you ever resolve this issue as we are experiencing the same problem with phantoms and a fax server.

This is a long shot. Could the offending fax machines / servers have an extra digit incorrectly programmed, say a "0" that would cause them to zero out to the receptionist or "0"perator? You never know what people at the far end are doing.

What NCOS level do the incoming trunks have? In my experience, if you are forwarding to any outside number the system looks at the NCOS level of the incoming trunk for an outside call to determine if it is allowed to forward to a local or LD number. If you are forwarding incoming trunk calls to an outside local number, make the NCOS on each trunk one that allows local calling as if the trunks were end users phones.

LEEB: If you do that you are alowing every trunk to do that. You should set CDB to CFF and that way the set controls the call not the trunk.

This is a Signature and not part of the answer, it appears on every reply.

This is an Analogy so don't take it personally as some have.

Why change the engine if all you need is to change the spark plugs.
