Hi all - I need to move a few servers from one office to another one. The subnet will change as will obviously the IP Addresses of the servers I need to move. What are the implications of moving and changing a Domain Controller.

Depends what roles the servers perform. You don't want to move the only DHCP server to timbuktoo!

If the DCs are currently static IP change them to the IP range of the remote and then sites and servicves should stick them in the correct sites.

If you tell us what the roles the DC's perform be able to help a little more specifically.

At the moment it is just a normal DC, one of many in the WAN but the only one on this site. It does not have any FSMO roles other than Global Catalogue. All the computers at this site will also move with the server. Basically pickup one entire office and move to another location. Only thing changing is the subnet/Ip Addresses. It is still going to be a part of our global WAN.
This server is DHCP for its own LAN.

If you're moving the lock, stock and barrel to an office that already has DC's etc then before shutting down the DC remove the DHCP service (or you'll have 2 on the mian network which may be an issue / or desired as redundancy or load balancing depending on setup).

Plug the pcs in and they should get their new DHCP leases and off you go.......

Thanks. Only one small thing to make clear. They are moving to a new site, so there are no existing servers at the new site. Its like moving into a new home.
Will my AD domain controller that is being moved just pickup as per normal after I change the IP address (along with the computers moving)to the new range?

Sinces its new virgin office the of it like a power down.

Because thats all it is!

Bring the FSMO server online first followed by your DC's, check comms.... Bring your member servers back up check comms..... bring za couple of pcs back online makes sure dns / dhcp etc is working then Bills your uncle you'll be full up and running again.
