Hi, I have 1 domain controller with 2 additional DCs and I'm just using the default microsoft configuration when I installed it. And works fine until now.

I just want to know if there is a need to be configured. if my DC will be offline the additional domain can handle as a DC right away. Is that possible?

Any advice / help is very much appreciated.. thanks.. YOU ARE THE MAN! ! ! [thumbsup]

So you have 3 DC's in a Domain?

You'll find most directory requests will go to the nearest / least busy DC by default. So if one fails then the requests will hapiily go off to the other 2 DC's

You only need to be worried if your DC whichs hold the FSMO roles is going to be offline for a longtime. Probably weeks in a small network beofre you'd need to sieze a FSMO role.

Was that the question?

If you expect a DC to be down and that DC holds FSMO roles, then it is smart to go ahead and transfer them to a server that you know will stay up. This will ensure that you get no service interruptions.
