Running dcpromo for remote terminal session:

The operation failed because:

The Directory Service Failed to replicate off changes made locally.

"The DSA operation is unable to proceed because of a DNS lookup failure."

After getting several event log errors with

"NTDS KCC event id:1130
The automatic topology generator was unable to complete the topology for site CN"

and sysvol not replicating i wanted to demote the new additional DC. No luck....Any ideas....Thanks

Sevendcruz,

I forgot to ask, Are you still using the new additional DC for anything else? if not, unplug the machine and reinstall Windows 2000 Server later. The link is for your other DC's that are running. You will have problems of your other DC's trying to synchronize to the new additional DC once it is removed from the domain. The link should correct the error.

Thanks,
Treyze

Thanks Treyze...

I'll check the link, and no the DC is not used for anything else, however reinstall is a pain since its offsite and has raid 5.
