can you select multiple records on a dbgrid by code not by clicking the grid ?

You can use the TBookmarkList class.

myDbGrid.SelectedRows.CurrentRowSelected := true;

Just traverse your dataset and set the CurrentRowSelected according to your needs for the current record.
