Hi,

I think I have some database corruption with my ARCserve 11 for Windows installation. I have tried the old favorite dbfix etc. I am usgin the command:

dbfix -a -L arcserve;admin;secret asjob

and I am getting the error:

C:\Program Files\CA\BrightStor ARCserve Backup>dbfix -a -L arcserve;admin;secret
asjob

DBFIX Utility - Velocis 2.1.410 [12-Mar-2001]
Copyright (c) 1992-2001 Centura Software Corporation. All Rights Reserved.

Failed to log into server 'arcserve', username 'admin': error -2005.

Any ideas what has changed in the newer version of ARCserve?

Thanks,

Matt

HI,

Try using casdb instead of ARCSErve

dbfix -a -L casdb;admin;secret astpsdat

ARCserve VLDB layers
The VLDB is composed of seven databases. The one that many administrators will be most concerned with is the astpsdat database. This holds most of the information that is displayed in the restore screen and will usually be the largest database of the VLDB.

The VLDB databases are:
asjob
asmedia
asobject
asrhost
astape
astpdrv
astpsdat (This is the largest part of the ARCserve VLDB and requires the most time for the utilities to run)
