I am just simply trying to do a dbexport of my database,
and it keeps telling me
'Cannot create export directory'.
yet it creates the databasename.exp directory just fine.

I am running this as user informix.

Anyone have this same problem?

Hi,

I assume you are using the following syntax for the export:

dbexport <database> -ss -o <dumpdirectory>

The dumpdirectory you are specifying must be existing and you must have the write permission to it.

Unfortunately yes...... and it does create the subdirectory.. for example stores.exp before dying.

Any other thoughts?

The directory can't exist before you start the dbexport
The dbexport will create it, and if exist gives this
error.

Are you on a Linux system? There is a bug with the fileutils on Linux that causes a dbexport to give exactly the error you are getting. It creates the export directory, but gives an error saying that it can't create it. You can do a search on Google and get more information concerning this bug.
