This query comes in two parts... Technical and Comercial.

Firstly Technical - Will a UK bought DBC 4223 (MD110 version) work in the United States on an US Variant MD110? If it does, does it still encode at 64k? I know a T1 has less channels BUT are each of these channels still 64k?

Secondly - The UK price of the 4223 is approx £140 in the UK, however in the States we are being quoted $300 (£165), not a massive difference, but we will be buying about 50. Can anyone recomend some more competitively priced State Side supliers of the above.

Thanks
Al

[red]Striker : My orders came through. My squadron ships out tomorrow, we're bombing the storage depots at Daiquiri at 18:00 hours. We're coming in from the North, below their radar.[/red]

I'm not sure it will work,

US systems are using µ-LAW G711 codec and Europe systems are using A-LAW. regarding the T1, each channel has indeed 64k . but a connection to a digital extension is not a T1 (23B+D) but it is 2B+D, so 2 64k channels...

Thanks for your comments, it's a good point, however we use A-Law too in the UK. µ-LAW was designed for Asian the market where research has shown that a the range of frequencies used in day to day speech are higher.

You lost me a bit on the T1 statement. I am aware that Digi phone doesn't connect into a T1 (directly). My theory is that if the phones use 64k voice in the states, and so do the channels on the T1 then the only difference will (in theory) be on the signalling of the T1, and as this taken care of by the TLU XX (Trunk Line card) then the phones should work? - Sound feasible ??

Cheers
Al

P.S. Do you know where i can buy these in the states?

Hi,

Check with Ericsson Enterprise,New York,
4223 should be around USD 185....Can't be specific about our commercial agreement in place with them...

Cheers,

I am unable to locate any information on Ericsson Enterprise New York. Do you have a website link you can post?

Or anyone else who supplies in the States.

Cheers
Al
