Hi,

I created a MS Access 2002 database, in which I linked to .dbf files. I wrote an application which connect to Acces database through Microsoft Jet 4.0.

Everything is OK when on the computer where I run my application, MS Access is installed otherwise application shows error: Can't read the .....dbf file. The file is open in exclusive mode.....

Another DOS application doesn't have such problems.

Maybe someone have such problem?

I wait for some answer.

I think the problem is that you're opening the file in "exclusive" mode. However, I'm not certain that you'll be able to correct the problem. Unless you create an application that locks the record as it is being used, I think you'll be stuck in a single-user mode. You can try to open the file(s) in a multi-user mode and it may work but you'll still have to create a record locking method so that only one user can view/edit/add to the file at a time.

There's always a better way...

Thaks for reply.

I solved this problem. I found on same list that linked dBase and Paradox tables are read-only, but it can be changed by installing Microsoft Jet 4.0 Service Pack 5.

But now I've another problem. I can't link a dBase tables which have memo fields.
