I've been building dBase III + programs since 3+ came out and have had few problems. I am running two inkjet printers (Epson and HP) from the LPT1 port on Windows 98 SE. When I tried to copy the programs to a friend's computer (Windows 98) everything worked except the print commands. It seems it couldn't find the printer (also on the LPT1). It did "report to file" fine. Just not "Report to print". Or "set print on", etc.

Any ideas?

The "too many files open" problem is solved, probably. Now. how do I compile the dbaseiii program? It keeps needing maintenance, or is that just the way the beast operates?

Tatge...

Explain "keeps needing maintenance". If there are inherent design problems then compiling will not fix anything.

There's always a better way. The fun is trying to find it!
