I cannot seem to get dBase 5 for Windows to run under Windows 2000. I have done a full install and I get the following message "Cannot find file c:\dbasewin\bin\dbasewin.exe (or one of its components). Check and ensure the path and filename are correct and that all required libraries are available."

Anyone else have this problem or have any suggestions?

Thanks,

Thanks C.F. Neumann. Found the resolution right away. Although my interpretation of German is rather weak, I was able to pick up enough info to resolve the problem.

As far as Borland goes, I believe they owned dbase during dbase IV releases.

Yes, it was Borland during IV, BUT have you EVER tried to get info about dBase from them :D

I get stuck sometimes with the german postings, gets frustrating, but sometimes they put the code in there which I can 'usually' disseminate what I need. I get stuck with the french ones also :D

Glad your issue was resolved!

A shot in the dark:

Are ALL of the directories of dB5 8.3 format?

Maybe DeLucry can shed some light ;)

It's been a LOT of years since I dickered with dB5, I've been using 5.5 and above for many years. Christopher F. Neumann

actaully i don't know which format it is in. tomorrow i will check in office and let u know.I never worked on dbase 5.0 but was to do this favour of making it run 2000.

Pud,

What I had to do to get this to run is simply copy the file BIVX11.DLL FROM C:\DBASEWIN to C:\WINNT\SYSTEM.

Hope this works for you as well. Let us know.

hi!

can dbase 5.0 really work on windows 2000 w/o any upgradation? I thought one needs to upgrade atleast to visual dbase 5.7

Yes I use it everyday under Windows 2000 and it works fine. The only adjustment I had to make was the one I posted.

How i can to create an .exe file from an program built in dbase 5 for windows ??
thanks.

Hi Mortega,

The only way I am aware is compiling your program in Clipper, if you have it or have access to it.
