I am running SCO 5.0.5 and using DBASE IV v2.0 and I running into a strange problem. Sometimes in dbase programmers haveto use full path because the working directory will not set up correctly. Typing the 'set directory to' command doesn't help. Directory looks like like hyroclyphics and a 'dir' reports all files as "Not readable". Anybody have clue what is wrong? Oh ,permissions are rw-rw-rw on all the files and the directory structure. SO that can't be it.

Hieroglyphics? Impending Hard drive failure is possible. Almost sounds like a virus attack (the kinds that modify the FAT system).

Suggestion, backup your data on seperate storage devices.

Brand new drives and arrays. I highly doubt imminent drive failure. Also, this a UNIX system not Windows, so FAT system does not apply.
