Hi all,

I hope there is no thread about this problem, but I did not find any with keyword search.

Problem:
when I start the control center the program uses about 50mb ram. as soon as i reconnect to a database or click on "tables" in the database db2syscs.exe uses ~ 600mb ram.

I tried to uninstall and install again but nothing got better.

System: Win XP Professional

Can anyone help me with that problem?

Thanks a lot

Joachim

Joachim,

From what I have read on the net, 600mb of RAM is correct. Is this creating some sort of a problem for you?

Marc

Hi Marc,

if it would stay at 600 MB all the time, this wouldn't bother me. But with ongoing work it keeps getting more and more.

I do create a simple table with 2 columns
- varchar(40) - key
- xml

e.g.:
I inserted approx. 65 MB of xmlcontent to the table and the used ram kept increasing till 1.3 GB!

This does create a problem...
Can you or anyone else think of what could be the cause for this behaviour?

Thanks

Joachim

Hi Joachim,
I think that you can get problems with CPU if your windows page size is not big enough as it starts swapping between RAM and page file, but this is obviously not the case. I'm stumped on this one, but will leave the floor open to others.

The site has some good tips on basic tuning which might be relevant.

Sorry to not be of more help

Marc

Your problem seems familiar with the GUI I used for AS400 years ago (forgot the exact name of the tool) During the day this application swallowed more and more memory untill I needed to reboot.
I may be wrong on this, but I recall that the cause pointed at Java being the first suspect. Isn't Control Center a Java GUI?
This may be of help:
